Break Containment
Break Containment: Drill is set up with a player with the disc (1) on the force side of the field, a break side dump (2), a continuation cutter (3), a mark…
- Initial setup. Drill is set up with a player with the disc (1) on the force side of the field, a break side dump (2), a continuation cutter (3), a mark (D1), and a break (D2). The further towards the break side players 2 and 3 set up the more difficult the drill will be for the defence.
- The throw from 1 to 2 is allowed to simulate the mark being broken in a game.
- The continuation cutter then cuts towards the break side in a straight line while the mark and break run towards the break side to try and prevent the continuation pass from B to C. 2 then attempts to complete the pass to 3, while the mark and break try and prevent this pass from completing.
- Iteration 2 An additional continuation cutter (4) starts upfield near 3, and the centre (D3) is added to the defence.
- When 1 passes to 2, 2 can now choose to pass to either 3 or 4.
- The cup collectively has to try and contain both continuation threats.
- Iteration 3 A swing handler (5) starts in the break swing space, and the alley (D5) is added to the defence.
- When 1 passes to 2, 2 can now choose to either pass to 3 or 4, or pass to 5 where 5 can then pass to 3 or 4.
- The cup again has to collectively prevent the disc from going to 3 and 4.
