- Initial setup. A handler, 1, starts near the centre of the field, marked by D1. A dump, 2, stands 2-3m behind on the open side, while the third handler, 3, stands 10m wide on the break side. Four cutters – 4, 5, 6 and 7 – form a horizontal stack approximately 10m downfield. Note that defence is optional in this drill, but are shown to improve understanding.
- The pair of cutters directly in front of the disc, 5 and 6, are the primary pair, and make a peppermill pattern.
- 1 throws to 5. As soon as the disc is thrown, secondary cutters 4 and 7 push downfield, aiming to maintain the distance between the stack and the disc. One of them now becomes active; in this case, it is 7. See related drill: https://www.flikulti.com/drills/cut-underneath-break/
- 6 turns to cut underneath.
- 5 throws to 6. As soon as the disc is released, the spare cutter, 4, now becomes active and pushes deep to maintain spacing between the stack and the disc. See related drill: https://www.flikulti.com/drills/away-to-open-under/
- 6 throws to 4 cutting to the break side. See related drill: https://www.flikulti.com/drills/offset-lateral-cut/
- By this point, H is the only isolated cutter left. In these circumstances, with so much width available, lateral cuts become more effective; see https://www.flikulti.com/theory/essentials/cutting/engaging-defenders/
