- Initial setup. A thrower, 1, stands 5m from the sideline, marked by D1 who applies a force middle mark. An upfield dump, 2, stands 5m away from 1, positioned diagonally towards the centre of the field, guarded by D2. Another cutter, 3, stands just behind 2, guarded by D3.
- Because of the need to throw fast passes into tight spaces, the biggest cause of turnovers is miscommunication between players. Communication is therefore vital; looking at the marker D1 and defender D2 can help to identify which throw is the easier option to hit. It is then down to 1, 2 and 3 to talk to each other to pick which option to take. The thrower, 1, always initiates. The defence are likely to believe that the disc will go to 2. Therefore, 3 becomes an active target.
- Scenario 1 - 1 throws to 3. See related drill: https://www.flikulti.com/drills/inside-throw-to-lateral-cut/
- 2 cuts to the inside channel to create more space for the around throw. 1 throws to 3. See related drill: https://www.flikulti.com/drills/diagonal-lead-pass/
