Orbiting Defence in Endzone
Orbiting Defence in Endzone: A thrower, 1, stands 5m outside the endzone in the middle of the field. A cutter, 2, stands on the centre of the endzone line…
- Initial setup. A thrower, 1, stands 5m outside the endzone in the middle of the field. A cutter, 2, stands on the centre of the endzone line guarded by D1 who faces 2 with their back to the disc. A second cutter, 3, stands at the back of the endzone in line with the others, guarded by D2 who stands 3m closer to the disc but facing 3. All players should be in a line.
- 1 throws the disc to either side of the field for 2; this is a thrower-led movement so 2 does not actively cut, instead they should wait for the throw from 1. The defenders are not looking at the disc, they have their backs to it (not how you should play defense, just for purpose of the drill).
- When disc is thrown to either side, D2 must find where it is and try to beat 3 to the dangerous spot as shown. Offence should try to throw continuation into the endzone as soon as possible, to take advantage of the (temporary) lack of a mark.
