- Initial setup. Set up initially with 3 handlers and 2 poppers on offence and the mark, break, centre and alley on defence. The drill area is the width of the field and ~20m depth. When the open and break side wings are added to the defence, increase the area depth to ~25m and ~30m respectively.
- The handlers move the disc between each other as before while the poppers move around behind the cup. The mark (1) and break (2) maintain their priorities while the centre (3) and alley (4) set up to prevent throws going between them to the poppers. The aim of the cup is to stay together as a unit and shut down their respective priorities as the disc moves back and forth across the field. When the cup become comfortable with the movement, the handlers can throw through to the poppers if opportunities arise. See related drill: https://www.flikulti.com/drills/mark-and-break/
- Crash Variation The handlers and poppers can now crash through the cup. It is the alley’s job to crash on defence and practice keeping the right line so as to not open up holes in the cup.
- Cup with Open Side Wing Progression Add an open side wing (5) to the set up who aims to stop throws down the open side sideline. Offence plays as before, attempting to swing the disc away from the cup, pass through the cup and crash into the cup area.
- Cup with Both Wings Progression Add a break side wing (6) to deter throws over the cup, to contain the break side of the field when the disc swings, and to contain if throws go through the cup. Offence has free reign to attack the field as they wish.
