- Initial setup. A handler, 1, starts with the disc in the middle of the field, marked by D1, and at the front of a stack. A cutter, 2, stands 10m downfield, facing 1, guarded by D2.
- D1 needs to dictate which way 1 should move. The specifics of this will vary depending on your team priorities and match-up etc. However, for the sake of this drill we identify two routes D1 can dictate to 1: Push your mark away from the disc: This forces them to run further and reduce the time they have to run a reset. Use your body to encourage them further from the disc, which will have them out of their ideal position for running the reset cut. Push your mark close to the disc: This clogs the lane making the reset throw more difficult. Use your body to encourage them closer to the disc, which will have them out of their ideal position for running the reset cut. 2 cuts under on the open side to receive the disc from 1.
- 1 will then cut immediately to the reset position before being initiated by 2 to run the reset cut. See related drill: https://www.flikulti.com/drills/sideline-bounce-cut/
- D1 should establish position immediately after the throw. Hustle to make 1’s job of getting into the reset position as difficult as possible. 2 should look down field (throw some pump fakes) for a stall of 4-5 seconds to allow 1 to get into position. 1 DOES NOT run a direct cut from throwing the disc. You must get into the reset position and wait for B to initiate you.
