- Initial setup. A handler, 1, starts near the sideline marked by D1. A reset, 2, stands approximately 5m infield, guarded by D2. A third handler, 3, stands near the middle of the field, approximately 18m from the disc, guarded by D3. A downfield receiver, 4, stands 8-12m downfield of 3.
- This setup shows a typical sideline reset scenario in horizontal stack, where 1, 2 and 3 are offensive handlers marked by defenders D1, D2 and D3 respectively. 4 is a downfield receiver who is positioned in this drill to provide a continuation throw once the disc is reset; in a game, this cut could come from a variety of positions depending on downfield player movement.

- Scenario 2 - Assuming 2 does not get open, 2 cuts back into the dump position. Meanwhile, the third handler, 3, begins cutting laterally across the field to engage their defender and create space for a continuation cut. - Scenario 2a - If 1 does not throw to 2, 3 cuts aggressively up the line, effectively repeating the actions of 2. Meanwhile, 2 cycles out to replace 3. To continue from this point, follow this decision tree from Step 2 again replacing 2 with 3.
