Crash
Crash: For the purpose of this play, D2 will be the alley.
- Initial setup. For the purpose of this play, D2 will be the alley.
- Scenario 1: A handler O2 tries to crash into the cup. The alley (D2) crashes on the handler cut.
- Final positions after the alley contains a handler cut.
- Scenario 2: If a popper (O5) attempts to crash the cup from behind.
- The alley will crash onto O5 from behind the cup, disrupting the crash.
- Scenario 3: If a popper (O4) attempts to crash the cup from the open side.
- The alley will crash onto O4 on the open side.
- A common mistake when crashing is the alley overcommits to stop the pass to the offensive crasher.
- If this happens, the alley leaves a hole in the wall which the thrower can attack. A throw going through the cup is more damaging to the defence than a throw going to a crashing offensive player, so keeping the cup structure is always the first priority.
